Malcolm Turnbull (马尔科姆·特恩布尔)

   Malcolm Turnbull (马尔科姆·特恩布尔)

Prime Minister, Leader of Liberal Party, MP, Multi-Millionaire.

Before entering politics, Turnbull worked as journalist, lawyer, merchant banker and venture capitalist. As the only political representative in BRW rich 200 in 2009 and 2010, he’s widely considered as the richest Prime Minister in the history of Australia.

He was first elected the Leader of Liberal Party 7 years before he finally made it and became Prime Minister. He challenged Tony Abbott in a leadership ballot last year the same way he was challenged by the same political opponent in 2009. The difference is, Abbott won the party leadership while Turnbull won the country.

Following the narrow victory in 2016 election, Turnbull’s new ministry, as expected, rejected re-elected MP, former Prime Minister Tony Abbott.

The story between Mr. Turnbull and China dates way back to the 90’s, when he invested in the first joint Sino-Foreign mining enterprise, ever since China’s economic reform in1979, in Hebei Province of China.

He also has a daughter-in-law of Chinese background.

Julie Bishop(朱莉·毕晓普)

   Julie Bishop(朱莉·毕晓普)

Foreign Minister, Deputy Leader of Liberal Party, MP.

Julie Bishop has been sitting in the Parliament House in Canberra for 18 straight years since her very first attempt to pre-selection in 1998, during which she has served in portfolios including education, science, ageing, etc.

She was appointed the Minister for Foreign Affairs in 2013 as Tony Abbott was elected Prime Minister and serves in the position till now.

Bishop may have never been a friendly name to most Chinese people thanks to several remarks she made on disputed area in East and South China Sea. In 2013, the newly appointed Foreign Minister’s remark over East China Sea was responded by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi as “a damage to the mutual trust”.

In 2016, she once again made herself headlines all over China.

Australia will continue to exercise our international law rights to freedom of navigation and overflights, and support the right of others to do so, wrote Julie Bishop in her statement, to which Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang said he was “Shocked” by Julie Bishop’s remark.

Barnaby Joyce(巴纳比·乔伊斯)

   Barnaby Joyce(巴纳比·乔伊斯)

Deputy Prime Minister, Leader of National Party, MP, Minister for Agriculture and Water Resource.

As the incumbent Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister for Agriculture and Water Resource, Barnaby Joyce first set foot in the senate when he won a Queensland senate seat for the Nationals at the 2004 federal election. Although he had lost the seat at the 2007 federal election, he regained it fleetly in the next election. When Joyce resigned from the senate in 2013 to contest the election, he won New England for the Nationals in the biggest swing in Australian political history with a margin of 21.5%. During his time as a National's senator he became known as a ‘political maverick’, crossing the floor 28 times.

In 2011, Barnaby Joyce lobbied against a bill proposed by senator Sarah Hanson-Young that would allow for same-sex couples to marry. He also has spoken out in opposition to same-sex marriage, which post a pressure on his proponents in 2013 federal election. However, Joyce remains unmoved on same sex marriage.

He’s been in the spotlight a few times and in 2015 he made international headlines when he threatened to euthanatize two dogs illegally brought into Australia owned by Hollywood actor Johnny Depp and his wife. “He looks like tomato and might explode”, Depp said on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “I think I’m turning into Johnny Depp’s Hannibal Lecter. Long after I’ve forgotten about Mr. Depp, he’s remembering me.” Joyce responded. In the end of 2016 federal election, Joyce also said “Bye bye Johnny, thanks for the advertising”.

In July of 2016, with a passionate defense of religious freedom, Barnaby Joyce emphatically rejects Pauline Hanson’s policies such as banning Muslim immigration and putting CCTV cameras in mosques. He believes that it is unfair to ban Muslim immigration for religion reason and he told Sky News, “You never know, every group has their rat-bags”.
